Seek Heroin, Will Travel – Part 4
Currently you are working for Narconon, how did that come about?
I’m an honest person and I don’t like hiding things. I did drugs, I lived on the streets and that’s part of who I was. I don’t like having to hide that and through Narconon I discovered that I don’t have to.
I love people – and that’s another thing that turned around for me because before Narconon, people could die and I didn’t care. After completing the program I loved seeing them and the wins that you can get with this program.
I like helping to rehabilitate people so that they’re in a position where they can really help themselves and achieve what they want to in life. I get a real “rush” out of that.

Is there a particular success story you wish to share?
One success story that stands out for me is a mother of three kids, who wasn’t really being a mother as far as I know, as she was not in contact with her children at all. She was an alcoholic and after she got on the Narconon program, she finally got in touch with her kids.
As a result, her daughter also came here and did the program (as she was a drug user) and when she graduated, they were crying tears of joy together. It was a huge win for all concerned. She had always really wanted her mother back and now she had her wish.
Then the mother got her son here to do the program as he was also lost and into drugs. He successfully completed the program and now he’s working here too, helping to get others off of drugs. Now they are a family again and they are working together saving lives.
For me, for the first time in years now I have a future. I can plan things and make them happen. I can create my life and my future and have fun doing it. Even knowing that it is possible to create a future that is fun is a considerable win. For example I have found a man and want to get married and this will be happening soon. I also want something which I considered impossible before, a family of my own. I used to hate children and now I know why and this has made a huge difference in my life.
What do you like the most about working with Narconon?
At Narconon the staff really cares about people, they have respect for them. They also know and totally believe that that they can help addicts get off drugs completely. It is not true that “once an addict, always an addict.”
These factors are very important elements to the success of the program. At Narconon they know that down deep people are good that there specific reasons why they got into drugs and that they can handle these underlying reasons.
Some students, when the come here, think that all they’re going to do is get off drugs and are afraid to go home and have to face or deal with family or criminal activities that they had done and are now going to court for, and so on. They learn that we’re here to help them handle that too. That’s the reason why they got into drugs and stayed into drugs. We actually give them life skills (in many cases for the first time) so that they can address these situations that scare them. Now they don’t have to run away from these issues and resort to drugs.
At Narconon we deliver actual drug addiction rehab and this is why the program is such a success.
