Mi Addiction es su Addiction – Part 2

September 29th, 2009

About midway into the movie, Josh grabbed his cola and took some of the Oxycontin he had bought, chewing them as directed. Jennifer noticed this and asked him what he was taking. He told Jennifer about the party and about how these “simple pain pills” made him feel. He offered some to Jennifer, who initially declined.

She started asking questions like “can they hurt you”?

“Nah,” replied Josh. They are pain pills, that’s all.

Before long, Josh was handing Jennifer some pills and instructing her to chew them. The two of them sat the rest of the night enjoying their high and wondering how they could have avoided this wonder drug all of this time. Josh took another pill a short time later because he felt the affects wearing off.

They began taking more and more until it came to a point where they took it first thing in the morning. Slowly, their behaviors began to change and their family’s noticed. They weren’t looking at all well, they had mood swings and sometimes it seemed they were barely breathing. Josh began to get defiant with his parents and suddenly informed them that he had no intention of going to college. His parents began to become very worried. Josh and Jennifer seemed to spend almost every evening either at parties or downstairs watching movies. Then his parents began noticing money missing from their purse and wallet. When there is only one child, there is no guesswork as to who is guilty. They knew it had to be Josh. When they confronted him, he flew into a rage. It was then that his mother decided to do some investigating.

While Josh was gone the next day, his mother paid a visit to his room. She found his little stash of Oxycontin and took one out to bring to the pharmacy with her. She set the pill down on the counter at the pharmacy and asked what it was. The pharmacist gave her a lot of information about Oxycontin, what it is used for and how it can be addictive.

She thanked him and proceeded home to call a drug addiction rehab.

“I want you to help me save my Son” she told the rehab counselor.

And that is exactly what they did. Josh was lucky his mother took action like she did. He wasn’t happy about it at first. In fact, he was furious. But, he went to rehab and convinced Jennifer to get help too. Today, Josh is an international interpreter and Jennifer is a drug rehab counselor.
